INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

Tell me about yourself.

1. My name is Abdallah Safa, I currently work at Madison Square Garden as security. I’m a very outgoing person during my job. I always like to help and assist people. Before entering into the security field, I worked in customer service jobs. It allowed me to hone my people skills and learn to communicate effectively.

2.    How would you describe yourself?

I’d say I’m a friendly person, easy to work with and understanding. Aside from my work, I am an active individual, having previously played football for my high school, but the most important aspect of my life is socializing with my friends and taking responsibility for my family, especially for my siblings.”

3.    What makes you unique?

What makes me unique is that I show pride in what I do and do it right.

4.    Describe a time when you used teamwork to solve a problem at a previous security job.

There was once a time where I was working, and I have noticed that one of my coworkers needed help with a fight. What I did to help was, I called my supervisor and then I went and tried to help my peer.

5.    Describe a time when you had to deal with an assault. How did you handle the situation? Is there anything you would have done differently?

There was once an angry lady that we had to close down the bar for alcohol and she started taking the ice out of her cup and throwing it at us and the bartenders. I called paid to detail and my supervisor, they came along, and we handled the situation by escorting her out of the stadium.

6.    Tell me about a time you successfully dealt with an angry member of the public

Well, once there was this angry guy because there was a guy, couple rows back throwing popcorn at his kids, so I went down told the guy throwing popcorn to come up with me. I put him with another group of security, and I went over to speak to the gentleman that was angry. I told him what we were going to do to make him feel better which was escort the other guy out.

7.    Describe a time when you felt as if you were in physical danger on the job. How did you handle the situation?

I was once trying to calm down an intoxicated guest and then he started to get rowdy and, in my face, until I told him that I will call pay detail and have him escorted out of the stadium and he stopped right after that, but he still got escorted out.

8.    How do you spend downtime on the job?

Well, I try to relax and just spend time with my friends

9.    Imagine you have been called to handle an emergency on the 10th floor of a building, but six guests are waiting to be checked in at the front desk. It’s late at night, and you are momentarily alone at the front desk. What would you do?

Well, the first thing I would do is contact 911 and then I’ll tell the guest to give me two minutes because I have an emergency and I will go upstairs to see if everything’s okay and then tell them that emergency services are on their way and I’ll go back down sign in the guests and then I’ll wait for the emergency units so I could lead them up the way.

10. How comfortable are you using computers?

I’d say I’m really comfortable using computers because I’m behind one every day and I know my way around one.

11. What are some of your strengths on the job?

My awareness of my surroundings, the way I talk to people and always being alert.

12. What would you do if you see two guests fighting on the floor?

Well, the first thing I’ll do is call my supervisor informed him that there’s a fight going on in my section. After that, I will call paid detail and then I will make my way down and try to stop the fight if not that, I will wait till paid detail comes and my supervisor and I try to stop it then.
