ABSTRACT
Unemployment is a real concern in all areas of New York City. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of February 2018, there are 6.7 million individuals in the United States who are unemployed. In the Bronx alone, unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest number being 5.7 percent. Many people may not want to work, but many are willing to look for a job, but might not have the resources or opportunities to obtain one. Due to unemployment in our community, there is no income and it leads to poverty. People go under debt, which leads to economic problems and an individual’s health issue. Being unemployed causes a person to go under depression, low self-esteem, and creates delays to an individual’s physical health. This happens most of the time, especially if one needs and wants a job, but unfortunately can’t find one. The state and the government might provide assistance when it comes to unemployment, however it is not enough support to local businesses amongst the community as usually the help is getting jobs in corporate businesses. With this happening many crimes are being committed by individuals, and poverty stays at a high rate. Our goal as AID & SUCCOUR EMPLOYMENT is to provide money loans to open local and community businesses that provide job opportunities for individuals amongst the community. As a pilot program that runs for only 12- months, we want to help businesses open stores or shops around town. By applying business support to local community businesses we help clear up the unemployment rates amongst our community. Allowing individuals to create a business and provide job opportunities.

GRANT PROPOSAL
METHODS AND OBJECTIVES
Creating a solution to the problem of unemployment is the main objective of our grant proposal. There are many ways we can go about doing this, but our method includes using grants to support local small businesses to help create jobs for everyone in the community. After acquiring the grant, it would be split up into pieces. Different business would get a bigger or smaller piece depending on which business does better financially. Furthermore, after we give out the grant, we will monitor said businesses and make sure that the grant is being used for its intended purposes. The businesses that create the most revenue for will continue to get continuous funding. The way the continuous funding works is like an orbit. As we give the different businesses a piece of the grant, they’ll use that money to pick their job up. When their job picks up, they’ll get more business and get more money. This will make their business grow even bigger and make available more jobs in the community.
PROCEDURES
The two different businesses
- GRAND BUSINESS
The grand businesses are considered to be the 12-month businesses that require more of the budget spending. Since grand businesses cater to bigger aspects like equipment , larger staff and greater time. The application enlisted that you show income , business plan and license to sell or run any business at interest.
- BOOTH BUSINESS
The booth businesses are considered to be a short term establishment were we provide a 6-month licensed booth for local businesses to sell their products. These types of businesses are provided with heat and gas for the first two months as after they are in a much smaller facility. The application also enlists that you show income and business plan, only differences is staff must hire an extra individual within the radius.
Application process
we decided to consist of a Application system. Each application is catered to two different tiers of businesses. As anyone can apply for the business loan, we cannot ensure or guarantee that everyone’s business idea will be accepted . Although we would love to give all individuals who are interested in community a chance to create a local business, we can’t take the chance on businesses we see will not succeed thus far and will not come to value or the idea and business is at large consumption where they are located. We value the goal of creating unemployment opportunities and if a business does not have chance of succeeding very far wouldn’t want to give false hope. However, the application system allows us to also keep track the different tier of business and which business belong to who.
Once finished with applying and accepted for the loan. We will send out a mailed acceptance letter and ask for a brief interview where we explain all aspects of our program and how long does provide assistance.
Types of applications
The application system is simple,A person that is looking for a 12-month vacancy must apply for the annual loan application. Where it indicates that they will be signing a 12-month period contract with such guidelines that have to be meet( such as how many employees are they allowed, the employees must be from a 10 mile radius from the location). It will also explain the amount they will get and ensure that we are only a business starter and will only pay all fees and bills for the first month only. For 6- month vacancy , The application sent in is for a booth where we provide a business permit and a check for the materials needed.
Budget
As we are providing assistance to 2 different types of businesses the budgeting is different.
Grand Business Budget
- One time payment -( including rent, business materials, utilities, equipment ) : 10,000$
- Marketing: $2,000
- Insurance fees: $4,000
*For the first month business is only allowed to hire the amount of staff needed until business acquire more finances to support more staff*
Booth Business Budget
- One time payment – ( including booth permit, utilities, business materials, and equipment): $5,000
- Marketing: 2,000
- Insurance Fee: 4,000
How to distribute the money
To prevent any fraudulent actions regarding theft , misconception of financial spending, we will be sending checks with specific amounts to direct on what an individual is spending. We will also have an insurance policy where if the business fails we get an rate of 15% back of was made thus far. To ensure that the business stays on track we will conduct evaluations and visits.
EVALUATIONS
To ensure that our grant is used to benefit each business in a maximum effort, we will have two tiers that will decide which business gets the appropriate amount of incentives. Businesses that don’t require much equipment or a permanent location will be given a lower tier temporary 6 month loan agreement where they are given the minimum required for rent, supplies and anything else required to start the business up. During that 6 month loan , we will make a monthly visit to ensure that the loan is being used correctly. As for the long term businesses we will give semi- annual (6 month) visits. After 6 months, the owner has the option to continue onto another 6 month agreement that is readjusted based on the financial equity. Businesses can opt for a more permanent commitment (especially if they are required to make extra costs regarding construction or equipment), where they can re evaluate whether they want to continue on after 12 months. In order to guarantee that our funds are properly utilized, we will request tax and employment records that prove our expenses are used properly and that a minimum amount of hours are given to a minimum amount of employees who reside within a 10 mile radius.
CONCLUSION
By providing incentives for everyday entrepreneurs to pursue their business dreams and maintaining a minimum number of employees and labor hour requirements, we will help jumpstart many businesses that will guarantee the unemployed more job opportunities. Also, by reinvesting profits returned from stable businesses into newer businesses, more and more businesses will be founded and give those around them an open option to secure an income and take care of themselves and their families. Since modern society’s beginnings, unemployment has been a common problem that has grasped the lives of many unfortunate people. With a growing population of jobless people, many have been left homeless, mentally/physically ill and have succumbed to a life of crime as a primary source of income. With such a positive impact on society, our group aims to extinguish the fire of unemployment and ensure that our program continues to provide such great opportunities to prevent unemployment.
